Support the Lab

Independent research sustained by patrons

The research output on this platform is public. The articles, structured data tables, and published reports are available without a paywall or registration requirement because the point of building an empirical record is that people can actually use it. Patronage funds the production side of that: the time spent in archives, the tools for structured data extraction, field reporting costs, and the infrastructure that keeps everything accessible. If the work is useful to you, supporting it directly is how it continues at this scale.

Patron contributions are not subscriptions in the commercial sense. There is no content held back from the public record as an incentive. What patronage provides is the independence to pursue research on a sustained basis, outside of grant cycles that often shape what gets studied and what gets written.
